I was born Cristian Văraru on 7 August 1987 in Bucharest, Romania.
Both my parents came from Western Moldavia. They met in Bucharest and discovered a shared interest for art music. I am their third and last son.
My first work diary dates from 2011. Its front page reads : "Let us leap in our biographers' defence ! …" Boasting as it may sound, I never actually did any work in this respect, although the thought comes to mind every now and then.
One day I might embark in producing an autobiographical mockumentary. There's a rich, kaleidoscopic universe I've been a witness to, and my quirky sense of humour and capacious memory may be of some help, too.
Yet there's another biography I would enjoy depicting — that of my mother. Her early years spent near the Romanian Northern border attest a world which might coincide with a certain sought-after "missing link" that has been a true obsession in the Romanian conscience ever since the communist regime took over. Several years ago, I was very happy to learn that my longtime friend and collaborator Eliza Mureșan too had plans to interview my mother. Perhaps we'll eventually work together on this one. (By the by, it is her who took the lovely portrait above.)
